As I reflect back on my first Christmas in Toronto, I can’t help but feel a sense of enchantment. It truly is one of my favourite places to celebrate the holiday season.

These events and experiences have captured our hearts and are sure to create treasured memories for you and your loved ones. The city comes alive with a festive spirit, where chimneys are lit, hot chocolate flows, and Canadians spread joy to their neighbours and strangers. One of our family’s favourite traditions is simply strolling through the beautifully decorated neighbourhoods. Beyond that, Toronto offers a wide array of incredible Christmas events that I look forward to year after year. I guarantee that you and your family will also love these annual holiday festivals.

Canada’s Wonderland will magically transform into a winter wonderland, making it a perfect place to celebrate Christmas with your family.

WinterFest offers an immersive holiday experience with magical performances, ice-skating on SnowFlake Lake, millions of dazzling lights, live shows, a nightly tree-lighting celebration, and activities like cookie decorating and craft-making.

While some family rides will be open, the adults can enjoy craft beer and Ontario wine. WinterFest at Canada’s Wonderland is undoubtedly one of the best ways to celebrate Christmas in Toronto, especially for families with kids.

The celebrations kick off with the Cavalcade of Lights in late November, followed by a Christmas market, an ice skating rink, and Toronto’s Christmas tree. The Cavalcade of Lights is a beloved Toronto tradition that marks the official start of Christmas celebrations in the city. With DJ skating parties, circus arts performances, live music, and a spectacular fireworks display, this event is not to be missed. But even if you can’t make it to the Cavalcade of Lights, don’t worry! The Christmas tree and the lights display at Nathan Phillips Square will illuminate the square every night. Visiting Nathan Phillips Square to admire the giant Christmas tree and the dazzling lights is one of the best things to do in Toronto in December.

Don’t Miss the Must-See Attractions at the Christmas Market!

Like any traditional Christmas market, you’ll find a wide variety of open-air stalls selling handmade crafts and delectable treats. Stop at SOMA chocolate maker for a tempting cup of hot chocolate and indulge in the season’s flavours. Take advantage of the mulled wine and delicious food offerings that will warm your heart as you immerse yourself in the festive cheer.

Join Santa and his mischievous elves at the enchanting Toronto Christmas Market! This festive extravaganza will fill your heart with joy as a chorus of Christmas carollers takes centre stage, serenading you and creating a magical atmosphere.

Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit and experience the wonder of the Toronto Christmas Market. The activities start after 5:30 pm, so plan your visit accordingly. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to create unforgettable memories with your loved ones.

Please note that the Toronto Christmas Market can get crowded on Friday nights and weekends. We recommend visiting during weekdays when admission is free from Monday to Thursday and during the day on Friday. For entry after 4 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, you will need to purchase a timed ticket in advance online. Once inside, you can enjoy the market for as long as you like.
